Under the baton of our Principal Guest Conductor Mr Garry Cutt the victory meant the MD’s 4th title with the band and Windcorp’s 7th title in total since it’s founding in 2005. This year’s set piece was Peter Graham’s The Essence of Time, and as our own choice piece Windcorp Brass Band played A Kensington Concerto by Eric Ball. Mr Cutt received the award for ’Best Set Piece Performance’, and our guest principal cornet player, Mr James Fountain received the ’Best Instrumentalist’ award.
We experienced a championship section of some fantastic banding, and there were just 1,5 points between Windcorp and Solna Brass. Solna delivered a solid performance of The Essence of Time, but especially showed some splendid stuff with their own choice Cloudcather Fells by John McCabe. Betlehemskyrkans Musikkår ended up in third position with some great playing of both set piece and their own choice The Lord is King by Ray Steadman-Allen.
1. Windcorp Brass Band (Garry Cutt): 92/95 = 93.5
2. Solna Brass (Emil Björklund): 90/94 = 92
3. Betlehemskyrkans Musikkår (Jörgen Ådvall): 87/91 = 89
